Collaborative works by Primitivo Suarez and Ginger Wolfe

  • Opening Reception: Saturday, November 24th, 2007 from 6 - 10pm
Exhibition continues through January 26th 2007
  • Garden Fresh Gallery presents the collaborative work of Bay area/Los Angeles based artists Primitivo Suarez and Ginger Wolfe. The husband-and-wife team have been making work, writing, and reflecting together for the past four years, and are the new parents of their son, Inigo. Together, they have been involved in creating installations through what they term ‘societal investigations through a contextual/visual analysis’. For this exhibition, they plan on building out surfaces of the gallery, as if merging two succinct places. Their installations have also most recently been seen as solo project at High Desert Test Sites, curated by Andrea Zittel. This year they were also included in the book of artist projects, ‘Agent Once’, on emerging Los Angeles based artists.

Ginger Wolfe is a maker of conceptual images and objects. She was an assistant to conceptual artist, Sol LeWitt, and was a Founder of InterReview Journal, which is dedicated to experimental criticism. Ginger’s most recent artist project was published in August by ‘N. Paradoxa’ (London), and was a one-year inquiry to memory, loss, and looking. Primitivo Suarez was an architect before receiving his MFA in Sculpture form UCLA in 2000. He is a recipient of The Emilio Sanchez Award and of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Primitivo has shown his work extensively including ACE Galleries in both Los Angeles and New York, Blum & Poe Gallery, Luckman Gallery of Fine Arts, etc. His work has been widely cited, and was recently included in the book ‘Space Craft: Fleeting Architecture and Hideouts’ published by Die Gestalten, Berlin. Primitivo is also a collaborator on InterReview Journal.
