ANDREW RIGSBY &
ALAIN DOUGLAS PARK
New Work
- September 8th through October 14th, 2006.

For our first
show of the season, GARDENfresh is proud to present an exhibit featuring
two of its members, Andrew Rigsby and Alain Douglas Park.
Rigsby presents a multiple photo, painting and sculptural/video installation
entitled “New Work (things were so much better the last time
we met)”. The work deals with the personal and the private
through an exploration of memory, both real and invented. The works
language is found the fractured urban visual field and uses signage
to create logotypes for unknown individuals.
Park continues his investigation into the essence of meaning with
a
collection of work entitled “Everything Passes”. At their
core, the pieces in this show deal with the benefits, consequences,
and even limitations of expression itself. The show includes a large
photo installation inspired by the Museum of the Army in Brussels, Belgium. Also
included in the exhibition is a sculpture of a 7-foot, extinct Rhinoceros
made from the writing of children.
Andrew Rigsby is a Chicago based artist and the founder of GARDENfresh.
He continues to live and work in Chicago. Rigsby has shown both nationally
and internationally.
Alain Douglas Park is a Chicago-based artist and writer. He currently
teaches art at Saint Xavier University and is the Editor/Co-founder
of Tin Parachute Postcard Review. In Chicago he has shown at such
venues as Judith Racht Gallery on Lake (Schopf Gallery), Evanston Art
Center, Dupreau
Gallery, and the Stray Show.
