    This Could Last Forever

  • February 24th through April 1st, 2006.
  • GARDENfresh is pleased to present the Chicago debut of New York based artist Cammi Climaco. Climaco's work is firmly planted in the realm of sloppy emotion, dealing in a collective "we" where the daily decision making in relationships is turned into high drama. Her bittersweet constructs evoke a sympathy and yearning from the audience even as they strive to capture hope, despair, elation, and misery, all at the same time.

For her premiere show with GARDENfresh Climaco presents a collection of work entitled "This Could Last Forever". Through a range of media, including drawing, sculpture, and video, the show suggests something along the lines of a virtual rock opera, complete with explicit song lyrics. All of the work is music or musician influenced and more specifically deals with the proposed relationship between musician-boy and outsider-girl. Like the first angry songs of a young 20-something musician still struggling on a strong learning curve these works are tragic yet hopeful, heartbreaking yet familiar.

A graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art Climaco has shown extensively including Spaces Gallery in Cleveland, Branch Gallery in Chapel Hill and in numerous shows at Silo Gallery in New York City, where she is also represented.
